Round-up: England flies the flag for Warboys

WARBOYS

HARRY England flew the flag for Warboys U10 with five goals as they ran out 8-5 winners against Little Paxton.

Dillan Scott scored two and Joe Tattersall one but it needed Thomas Coles in goal to keep the win safe.

A tight first half between Warboys U12 and Whittlesford Warriors saw few chances and ended in a stalemate. The second half followed a similar pattern but Warriors found the match-winning goal to win 1-0.

The U15s pulled off a fine 5-2 win against Cherry Hinton. Mombe Simwanza scored another hat-trick with Musole Simwanza and Liam Peacock completing the tally.

Finlay Alston netted a fine hat-trick to make sure the U11s drew 3-3 with St Ives Rangers.

ALCONBURY

THE U16s hit double figures in difficult conditions when they met Papworth.

As conditions deteriorated there were two goals each from Chris Alban, Jake Leonce, James Petts and a single from Jamie Stone. Top-shot on the day was Ryan Smith who bagged a hat-trick.

The U9 Reds played top-of-the-table Priory F and came close to pulling off a win.

A thrilling game was eventually drawn 2-2 with the Priory goals coming from Owen Bevan and Tom Ward, and George Bush and Samuel Martin notching for the Reds. Both keepers turned in fine performances, the highlight a terrific save from Joe Whitney in the Reds goal.

The U10 Blues visited Somersham Gold and despite goals from Marcel Rzesztek, Jacob Pack and Harry March, they went down 4-3.

KC COUGARS

COUGARS eased past Needingworth 4-0 in their away League Cup match. Sam Hills and Jack Bowen both scored before Kasey Nicholson added a brace to sew up the tie.

NEEDINGWORTH

JOSH Smith fired home a hat-trick in an excellent team performance from Needingworth U11 as they beat Little Paxton 7-1 in the League Cup. Dan Turnbull, Ryan Batsford, Joe Riggs and Campbell Strong completed the scoring.

ST IVES RANGERS

RANGERS U13A and West Wratting contested a good game that ended 3-3. Daffa Prasetyo and Cameron Haxell bagged two early goals for Rangers but Wratting hit back to equalise. Rangers snatched a third and looked likely winners until Wratting netted a second equaliser before the final whistle.

St Ives Rangers U9R took control of their game against Priory as Robert Carlos bagged a hat-trick and Aaron Ania netted another before half time. Rangers continued to dominate in the second half with a double from Declan Rice and a fourth for Carlos to give them a 7-1 win.

Rangers U10J won a highly entertaining game 5-3 against another good side in Somersham Amber. Somersham started brightly but a Rangers break saw James Elvin break the deadlock.

Thomas James made it two and the pair grabbed another goal apiece after Amber had opened their account. Amir Kamal bagged Rangers’ fifth with Amber netting either side of his strike.

Kris Anderson netted twice for the U12C but it was Newmarket that trotted away with the points after a 5-3 win. Steven Safford netted Rangers’ third goal.

The U14s secured a home win against Cherry Hinton Lions. Kieran Price broke through for the opener and only goal of the first half and added his second early in the second. George McCarter got on the score-sheet before Price netted his third for a 4-1 win.

Rangers U14 girls dispatched Comberton 4-1 after going a goal behind. After the wake-up call, Tierney Poore bagged a brace with Jorgie Hall and Georgia Rebane on target for one apiece.

Rangers U12A struggled to contain visitors Newmarket and eventually lost 6-3. Adam Roberts hit the net for Rangers with two own goals helping the tally.

Priory U10H took an early lead against Bluntisham Blasters but had to work hard for their 5-3 win. Alex Harris hit three with Jaiden Wells and Murphy Culkin scoring as Blasters hit back from three down.

HEMINGFORD

BLACKS U11 took the lead against Brampton Spartan Red in the League Cup when Joe Darer scored. The game was still in the balance until Sam Stevenson netted near the end to make it 2-0.

In a tight first half the U10s took a single-goal lead into the break against Alconbury thanks to Tom Lynn. Bertie Kemp pulled off some good saves in the second half to keep the lead intact before Kieran Weston made the score 2-0 to end the contest.

RAMSEY

KYLE Ferrier and Jake Temple netted a brace each and Josh England took a single as Ramsey U15 progressed in the League Cup with a 5-3 win against Sawston.

The U10B side took a mauling against KC Cougars as the final score finished 9-1 to Cougars.

The U10A team were unlucky to lose 2-1 to Priory A, as Leo Medhurst scored the goal for the Rams.

The U10 Girls contested a superb game with Histon Hornets in which the spoils were shared at 4-4.

Haddenham U12 Girls proved too strong for the Ramsey Girls who fell to a 9-0 defeat.

There were heavy defeats for the U13 and U11 Rams, as the former crashed 9-0 to Haverhill and the latter went down 4-0 to Newmarket.

Ramsey U16 put in a woeful first-half performance against Godmanchester to go into the break trailing 6-2. After some encouraging words they battled back in the second period but finally fell to a 9-7 defeat.

The Rams were on target through Luke Sterna (4), Josh Eyre, Rowan Dowlutt and Ollie Wright.

GODMANCHESTER ROVERS

THERE were goals aplenty as Rovers U10s maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a 5-3 win against a spirited Fenstanton outfit.

Harris Lacey notched a double with Sam Burroughes, Oscar Bryden and Adam Hunt all on the scoresheet.

Rovers U14B travelled to Haverhill and took time to settle. Nathan Storey calmed the nerves with the first goal and by the break Goddy led 4-1. James Inglis, Matthew Pates and another Storey goal left Haverhill with all to do and although they nicked one back in the second half Goddy ran out 4-2 winners.

Adam Hawthorne notched four goals for Rovers U16s as they hung on to win the game 9-7 against Ramsey. Goddy’s other goalscorers were Callum Parker, Henry Warren, Gus Murphy, Luke McKenzie and Lewis Collins.

Rovers U12 overcame their bogey team, Brampton, to win 6-2. Jack Donnellan bagged a hat-trick with Sam Coulson, Richie Campbell and James Osborne tidying up the win.

Rovers U14A rampaged into the second round of the League Cup after a 13-0 win over Needingworth. Shay Gaynor (4), Matt Lefarge (3) Sean Olley (2), Danny Mulgrew, Elkanah Sibanda, Farris Alston and Haydon Noble all found the net.

PRIORY PARKSIDE

PRIORY U16 turned in a magnificent performance but resilient Ramsey kept it goalless at the break.

The deadlock was broken when Rob Baldwyn’s enormous clearance found Christian Duddridge who smashed it home. Jacob Tose added the second to seal the game at 2-0 after Priory had missed a penalty.

Priory U13A entertained local rivals Godmanchester Rovers and will feel that two points escaped following a 1-1 draw.

Priory U14s smashed in 13 unanswered goals against Hemingford to move into the next round of the Knock-Out Cup.

Priory strikes came from Dom Smith (4), Sam Pritchard (3), Bradley Sargeant (2) and Matthew Allen (2) while Rikky Wimbleton and Oliver Rae-Jallal hit a single apiece.

James Allen gave Priory U10A an early advantage over Ramsey. Josh Smryk and Jensen Baird combined to make it 2-0 before Rams nicked a consolation to keep the game on a knife-edge.

Lakenheath showed no mercy to the U12s who had only an Adam Dawson consolation to show in a 12-1 defeat.

ST NEOTS

TWO goals in each half by visitors Sawtry ended the involvement of St Neots U14 in the County Cup.

A Ryan Vale penalty was the Saints’ only reward from a game that ended 4-1.

Saints U12s kept up their winning streak with a 4-0 win over a strong Stevenage Town outfit who came into the match unbeaten. Thomas Payne and Cameron Harris notched in the first half and Sam Cartwright scored a double in the second.

BUCKDEN

DOUBLES for Adam Brown and Josh Jarvis highlighted a super team show from Buckden U10 White at Brampton.

Joe Brooks, Ben Reed, Louis Spicer and Callum Squire added four further strikes as Whites won the day in style 8-1.

The U7 Kestrels conceded two early goals to Hemingford before finding their range. Goals from Eddie Patience, MacKenzie May and Lewis Taylor were not quite enough as the visitors notched seven through Thomas Smith and Harry Butcher.

The U12s unleashed a 12-goal blitz on a luckless Alconbury. Goals came via George Murkett (4), Billy Haverson (3), Harry Blair (2), Josh Tibbs, James Bonafont and an own goal.

Buckden U13s missed a hatful of chances in the 4-4 draw with Cambridge Diamonds, but had to thank Jacob Brown for his two strikes and Dylan Walsh and Connor Ray for the goals that took a point.

Buckden Black U10 put on their shooting boots to rack up a 21-0 win over Stukeley Meadows. They led by 12 at the break, and shared the goals round as Nathan Shorrock and James Buckenham finished with six each. The others came from Chris Davenport (4), James Titley (3), Luka Cusik-Knight and firs-half keeper Jaylin Gilpin.

BRAMPTON SPARTANS

DOMINIC Forshaw scored Spartans U10s’ consolation goal against a good Buckden side that won 8-1.

Spartans U11 Red put up a good show before falling 2-0 to Hemingford.

HUNTINGDON ROWDIES

THE U7 team battled bravely against a lively Warboys team, who showed their class and ran out comfortable winners, despite the best efforts of the Rowdies. Goals for Rowdies came from Tommy Dear and Henry Smith.
