CAMBS and Hunts II earned a hard-fought draw against Bedfordshire II in the Inter Counties Trophy at Aspley Guise. Brampton Parks Lesley Ince teamed up with Marilize Synman-Harvey of Bourn to take a half in the morning foursomes, which ended 3-3. Ince then won her afternoon singles match 3&2, but the honours were shared overall as the teams finished tied on 9-9. The Cambs and Hunts veterans team also drew with their Bedfordshire counterparts at Wyboston Lakes. Mary Thompson of St Neots and Rosemary Hay of Menzies sealed a tight game on the final green, but Brampton Parks Brenda Davey and Christine Ratcliffe of Ely City were pipped 3&2, with each side taking a point apiece from the other two matches. ST IVES junior Harriet Hayward finished second in the Handicap Cup at the County Junior Championships, just a shot behind winner Sarah Smith (Links), after shooting 72 and 74 for a total of 146. BRAMPTON Park golfers Pat Doyle and Kevin Cartlidge moved a step closer to the 2010 International Pairs UK final after winning the clubs qualifying round. The pair scored 40 Stableford points to advance to the regional finals of the global competition at Belton Woods in September. There they will have the chance to qualify for the International Pairs World Final being staged at The Carrick on Loch Lomond in October, where golfers from around 30 countries will gather to compete. JULIE Miller of Brampton Park put together an excellent score of gross 90 to secure top spot in the Cambs and Hunts Golf Association Division 2 meeting held at Lakeside Lodge. Bourns Judith Dooling took first nett to claim the Audrey Nicole Cup ahead of Terry Robinson of Ely City and Jacquie Richardson of Old Nene.
