SEAN Rose insisted he is looking at the positives of his season after enduring a frustrating Paralympic Games campaign in Vancouver.

The St Neots sit-skier was hotly tipped for a medal going into the games, but equipment failures and unfavourable conditions hampered his efforts, and he managed a best of seventh place in the downhill.

Rose carried the flag for the Great Britain team at the closing ceremony on Sunday evening, and said he still saw his season as a success.

"I didn't come here to finished in the top 10 - I came here to win a medal.

"It's not all negative. I'm not going away with the satisfaction of a medal, but I have had the satisfaction of knowing I came best prepared with the best support staff. The races didn't go my way, but if they had I think I could have medalled. I have had a great season when I look back."

Rose said he could even be tempted to compete in the 2014 games in Sochi, Russia.

"Never say never. I love the sport, I love the support I get. The sport is a real rollercoaster with high and lows. The highs are amazing and life-changing but I just wish I could have brought a medal back for GB for all the people who have helped me along the way."

The only GB alpine skier to have qualified for all five skiing events, Rose opened his games with an eighth place in the slalom, and took seventh in his favoured event, the downhill.

He had targeted the downhill as his best chance of a medal after finishing the World Cup downhill season in third place overall.

However, restricted running time on the course meant Rose was not comfortable heading into the event.

"I never had a full run from top to bottom, and that made me a bit apprehensive as I came into a couple of sections of the course, so I checked a bit and you can't afford to do that in this field."

Rose did not finish the Giant Slalom after missing the final gate, failed to finish in the Super-G after a binding malfunction, and crashed out of the Super Combined in icy conditions.
