Hunts AC's Christian Roberts ran a season's best in the Senior Men's 400m hurdles at the CAU Inter Counties meeting at Bedford. Roberts clocked 55.60 to finish 4th in his heat with a time well inside the English Schools qualifying standard. The performance moves him to top spot in the U20 Men's Eastern Counties rankings and up to 11th place in the UK.
Also on a high is James Downing, who took nearly nine seconds off his 1500m PB at the England U15 Boys Championships in Ashford in Kent. The 13-year-old's 4th place in the semi-finals in a time of 4:35.77 saw him rise from 177th to 65th in the national rankings. Competing against athletes nearly two years older than him, he finished 12th in the final.
In the Junior Men's 400m at the National Junior Southern Premier League at the Copthall Stadium in London, Ian McLaren clocked 52.78 to consolidate his top-10 ranking in the Eastern Counties.
