AFTER some cold and miserable weather for the last couple of weeks, Easter Saturday was much-improved and 19 anglers fished round six of this year's qualifying series.

Last year's winner Ray Best has had an awful sequence of results recently but drawn on Golden Peg 15 on Saturday, he caught 59lb 1oz to win conclusively.

Steve Welford, another past winner who has not had the best of starts, was second and Dave Rawlins took third. Mark Dickerson was fourth and took the small fish prize with Terry Allgood finishing fifth and moving into second place in the series.

THIS weekend's match was Beastie at Decoy with 29 anglers present. Paul Kilby was the winner from peg 25 with 61lb 4oz, with second-placed Ian Vigar close behind on 57lb 12oz. Adrian Wylde was third.

RESULT: 1 Paul Kilby 61lb 4oz, 2 Ian Vigar 57lb 12oz, 3 Adrian Wylde 48lb.

The Ramsey AGM is to be held at Ramsey cricket Club on Thursday April 12 at 8pm.

Lawn Farm

JOHN Pratt from Great Paxton won last Tuesday's Golden Rod match, with 20lb 10oz of mainly skimmers caught on the pole almost doubling the second place weight. George Tebb was second with 10lb 13oz and Dennis Holliday claimed third.

RESULT: 1 John Pratt GT Paxton 20lb 10oz, 2 George Tebb Bury St Edmunds 10lb 13oz, 3 Dennis Holliday Biggleswade 10lb 2oz.

Grahams Pond

ALTHOUGH Bob Stobart was the winner of Saturday's match, Tony Watling, in second place, qualified for King of the Pond. Bob caught tench and crucians plus two small carp for 9lb 14oz. Watling, fishing with a new pole, caught a very good 8lb 12oz of assorted fish and Greg Marsh took third place.

RESULT: 1 Bob Stobart 9lb 14oz, 2 Tony Watling 8lb 12oz, 3 Greg Marsh 7lb 9oz.

The draw for this season's Plumb-It challenge takes place at the Golden Knight on Sunday at 2pm

Pleasure fishing

Wayne Rainford had an excellent Good Friday, catching 11 carp, the best of which weighed 9lb 4oz.
