Ramsey Town 2 Sawtry 1

THERE were celebrations for Ramsey Town as they completed the double by carrying off the PFA Challenge Cup against industrious Sawtry .

The Rams brought the curtain down on a great season by adding the Challenge Cup to the league title they won two weeks earlier.

They started brightly and took an early lead when leading scorer Jamie Darlow notched his 40th goal of the season after a good move down the left.

The Rams continued to press but wasted a couple of decent chances before Sawtry hit back on the break with a fine individual effort from Calvin Brown.

After the interval Ramsey upped their game and continued to make chances. Darlow was unlucky when his header hit the bar whilst Steve Robson saw his effort rebound back off the post with the goalkeeper beaten.

He finally got his reward when he latched onto a Chris Talton cross to head home the winner and start the celebrations on a memorable double success.

The Cambridgeshire Kershaw Leagues reached their climax and it was a bad day all round for Great Paxton . The first team were relegated from the Premier after crashing 3-1 at home to Waterbeach and the Reserves finished bottom of 1B after being hammered 6-0 at March Reserves.

It was dream time for Somersham and Brampton in Senior A. Both teams were desperate to throw off the relegation worries and did so in style. Somersham won 5-0 against fourth-placed West Wratting and Brampton had an even better win at Mildenhall, triumphing 3-2.

Fenstanton hammered in 10 against Bottisham and finish in fifth in 1B and in midweek St Ives Rangers had a handsome 5-4 win against Eaton Socon Reserves to keep their league status in the same division.

In 2B, Elsworth have the fourth spot but lost 8-0 to runaway leaders Cambs University Press Reserves whilst Needingworth Reserves - 4-2 winners at Lode - Somersham Res - 0-0 at Wishbech St Mary's Reserves - and Godmanchester Reserves - who lost 2-0 to Pymoor - are all safe in mid-table.

Bluntisham Rangers fell from grace in 3B after going down 2-1 to Fordham Reserves, who retained their league status at Rangers' expense.

Huntingdon United RGE finished 4-1 winners against Newmarket A, and Brampton Reserves lost 5-0 at Mepal finish in mid-table.

Hemingfords Utd Reserves are promoted from 4B and celebrated in fine style with a 7-2 win at Swaversey Reserves and in 5B Earith took the runners-up spot and in the process scored their 100th goal of the league campaign with a 9-3 win against Wisbech St Mary's Reserves. Gransden Chequers will finish no lower than sixth in 5A after a 1-1 draw with Great Chishill.

In the Peterborough Honda Division One Alconbury Reserves recorded a 3-2 win at Hampton Athletic Reserves with goals from Lee Deane, Matthew Radwell and Shakel Tolcher. The result was enough to retain Division One status for the coming season.
