St Neots racer Andy Sawford endured differing fortunes in the second round of the HEL Performance Motostar British 125cc Championship at Brands Hatch.
Sawford took second place in the first of two races at the Kent circuit last weekend to continue his fine start to the season.
But mechanical problems forced him to withdraw from the second race following the sighting lap.
It leaves Sawford second in the overall championship standings, 20 points behind leader Josh Owens.
The series continues Oulton Park in Cheshire over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
