YOUNG swimmers from the Huntingdon Piranhas claimed victory at Mildenhall to be crowned winners of the Bussens and Parkins Trophy Gala.

Piranhas have come a close second for the past three years but this time there was no stopping them as they won 14 of the 34 races.

An impressive 21 swimmers recorded new personal best times, with 10 children picking up gold medals and Piranhas claiming victory in the relay.

Kate Meechan, Katey Shaw, Lauren Woods, Lucy Brading, Zoe Griffiths, Dan Willoughby, Adrian Vuylsteke, Ella Pearce, Matthews Davitt and James Gibson were among the top performers.

Elsewhere, Piranhas also competed well at the St Neots Open, winning a hatful of gold and silver medals.

The day's top senior girl was Tamara Richards, who claimed both silver and gold medals before going on to win the knock-out competition for the four fastest girls on the day.

Charlotte Harrison, Samantha Green, Chelsea Prouten, Oliver Temple and James Gibson were other winners.
