PIRANHA POOL: Swimming club Huntingdon Piranhas proved they had more bite than Luton namesakes Putteridge Piranhas at a recent challenge match. The match-up saw each club enter two teams and total all points gained to produce a result - which saw Huntingdon clear winners. The gala was held at the Huntingdon recreation centre and a return leg is planned in Luton for 2009. Age groups racing were U10, U12, U14 and open. Huntingdon won 18 of the 32 individual events and all of the five relays, with swimmers setting 27 personal best times. Taking winning points were: Tamara Richards, Josh Read, Charlotte Harrison, Adrian Vuylsteke, Zoe Griffiths, Ryan Skeels, Shalini Patel, Natasha Skeels, Chelsea Prouten, Laura Vuylsteke, Remmick Sargianopolous and Ryan Culverhouse - many of whom also set new personal bests. Others who swam to new personal best times were: George Girvan, Daniel Coles, Josh Waring, Kristen Chadband, Alex Youngs, Alex Murray, Daniel Parekh-Hill, Abbey Furmedge, Matthew Davitt, Helen Davitt, Michael Lardner and Michael Blundell. Team manager Nigel Prouten said: "This was a lot of fun and it is certainly a challenge we want to repeat. "It was very competitive and all swimmers put in the maximum effort as can be seen by the 27 new personal best times.
