HUNTINGDON Piranhas' young swimmers recorded a convincing victory in the B Final of the Junior Fenland League, following on from their C Final victory last year.

Competing against teams from March, Ely, Bottisham and Wisbech, Piranhas grew in strength as the event progressed and won 19 of the 43 races.

Victorious Piranhas on the day were Zoe Griffiths (2), Reece Johnstone (2), Taylor Goodby (2), George Girvan (2) and Catherine Lee (2), who each picked up two wins. Further wins were added by Adrian Vuylsteke, Chloe Phillips, Chloe Gibson, Kora Gibson, Teagan Shepherd, Daniel Parekh-Hill, Duncan Wotherspoon, Ryan Martin and the relay squad.

The Piranhas have been in good form in the past month, missing out by just a point to Ely in the Autumn Shield, and by the same margin to March Marlins in the Norwich and Peterborough Trophy Gala.

At the latter competition, St Neots Swans recorded fifteen wins to share second place with the Piranhas on 110 points.

Leading the way for Swans with two first-places each were Chloe Thompson and Joe Keech, while there were also wins for Susannah Hall, Olivia Hooper, Elena Dymott, Bethan Lukey, Kimberley Stokes, Amy Hancock, Rebecca Layland and Ricky Thompson.

Swans head coach Linda Ashley-Davidson said: "Another fantastic Swans team performance. All of the hours spent training have paid off and the rewards for the swimmers' dedication to training are very apparent when we achieve as much as we have done at this gala.
