SWIMMERS from the Huntingdon Piranhas club celebrated an extremely successful 2006 at their end-of-year presentation ceremony.

Swimmers set a total of 39 new club records at a very competitive club championship meet to end the year on a high note.

Lauren Steadman, 14, and Matthew Lardner, 13, were named swimmers of the year for their dedication, commitment and outstanding results throughout the year.

Lauren won silver and bronze medals at the Junior Disability Sport Event Swimming Championships in March and has achieved national qualification times in six locomotor disability categories.

Matthew won all 13 events in the boys U13 age category throughout 2006 and is going into his third year with the Piranhas.

Katie Read and Daniel Courton, both 15, will captain the boy's and girl's teams this year.

Piranhas' head coach Ashley Morris said: "The presentation evening was a great event and a fabulous way to celebrate the successes of the past year.

"We have every confidence that this success can continue in the next 12 months.
