Sawtry star Lauren Steadman added another major success to her collection last Saturday.

Steadman finished more than five minutes clear of her closest rival in the PTS5 Women category at the latest ITU Paratriathlon World Cup round.

She completed the 750m swim, 21.3km cycle and 5km run at Iseo-Franciacorta, in Italy, in a total time of 1:13.21 to follow up the fifth successive European title she won last month.

Steadman said: “It was a really hot day and the focus was on testing my body core temperature throughout the race to see how I cope at such intensity.

“After having seven months out of the sport recently, my training has picked up and I’m really pleased with how things are going.”

Steadman took time out following the Paralympics in Rio last year to focus on her university studies. Her latest European Championship triumph came in her first competitive race of the year and she followed up with more glory in Italy.
