AFTER missing out in several Cambs Junior Trophy finals in recent years, St Neots Golf Club finally managed to win one in a closely-fought match at the Gog Magog Old Course near Cambridge last weekend.
In testing, windy conditions, the St Neots youngsters took on Cromwell in a thrilling encounter with the final result not certain until the last hole and the final stroke.
For St Neots, Oliver Broome and Stuart Entwistle won the second match by 5&3 against Kieran Lee and Tom Watts. In the third game, Will Whitney and Greg Tack levelled matters for Cromwell with victory by the same score over Josh Gore and James Miller.
The opening match went all the way until the last green with Owen Meeds and Joe Gore coming back from three holes down at the turn to win by just one hole against Ben Richey and Ricky Smith.
