ST Ives cyclist Andy Bright showed a return to form at the weekend in the Team Cambridge 10-mile time trial. Bright's time of 23 minutes 58 seconds saw him register an average speed of more than 25 mph, despite losing 20 seconds owing to mechanical problems. In the St Ives Cycling Club evening series event, Neil Houldey raced his way to a win. Houldey's time of 34:25, over the 15-mile course saw him finish a minute ahead of runner-up Paul Rennie. Steve Butterworth was the fastest veteran, while Dave Nelson was the best rider on veterans' age standard.
