RICHARD Ostler returned to stamp his authority on the last in the series of Thursday night time trials at St Neots Cycling Club.
In a charge for the finish, he caught Chris Gosling, who had started a minute ahead, on the finishing line after a final half-mile that saw the two topping 30mph.
Ostler finished the 11.2-mile course in 30:04, a minute faster than second-placed Gosling, with Leon Bradford (34:22) and Adrian Taverna (37:38) in third and fourth.
The Abbotsley circuit was wet, with a strong northerly wind putting a dampener of the riders’ times. All were more than a minute down on their times the previous week, but competition between the riders was still fierce.
With the time trials finished for the season, the Sunday club runs continue through the autumn and winter. New riders are welcome to join the runs, which cover 40-60 miles at a fast touring pace. To find out more, contact c.j.gosling@btinternet.com
