Boss Andy Davies insists he will not press the panic button as he bids to arrest St Neots Town’s worrying slump.
Two away defeats in the space of three recent days have extended their losing run to five successive Southern League Premier Division matches.
Saints were thumped 4-1 at Hitchin last night (Monday) after being unfortunate Saturday losers by a solitary goal at Dorchester.
They have plunged into the relegation zone as a result of those latest slip-ups and have failed to win any of their last eight matches in all competitions.
Davies said: “I’ve got major concerns and would be foolish not to have in this situation, but I certainly believe we can turn the season around.
“With the benefit of hindsight, we maybe didn’t get the right characters needed to play at this level when putting the squad together in the summer.
“I’m happy with 90 per cent of the players I have at my disposal, but there are one or two areas that need tweaking.

“I’m not going to panic as two wins would put us close to the top half of the table again, but things like that are easier said than done.
“We’ve got to dig ourselves out of this rut by getting a result as soon as possible.
“I had a meeting with the chairman and director of football this morning and they were very supportive of me.
“I will give everything I’ve got as a coach and manager, and I believe the players will give me everything they have.
“I have to place my trust in them and they need to do likewise. It’s a two-way street of pulling together for ourselves, for the club and for the supporters.”
Davies has identified three potential recruits to bolster his squad. He is keen to draft in two attacking players and a midfielder.
Davies added: “We’re leaking far too many goals, but we knew that is something which may happen with the way we set up to play.
“The greater concern is the fact we have stopped scoring them. We need to get that addressed and that’s why we’re actively chasing two forwards and also looking at a midfield player who will give us a bit of extra bite in the centre of the park.”
