Manager Mark Ducket was left with mixed emotions after a sensational Eynesbury comeback last Saturday.

Rovers recovered from a three-goal deficit to triumph 4-3 at Harborough in a United Counties League Premier Division clash.

While Ducket was delighted his men transformed the contest with a scoring spree in the final 25 minutes, which included two Craig Smith goals in stoppage time to turn defeat into victory, he was dismayed they found themselves in such a predicament in the first place.

Ducket said: “I was absolutely seething that we were 3-0 down. We didn’t compete anywhere near well enough in the first half yet still squandered some golden chances.

“But we started to boss the game in the second half and ended up producing one of the best comebacks the club has ever had.

“It was a brilliant feeling to come away with three points, but we know we have a lot of things to put right. We cannot allow teams to have a head-start in this way.”

Rovers conceded twice in the opening 10 minutes and squandered a glorious opportunity to hit back when Smith scuffed a penalty wide.

Their arrears increased 11 minutes into the second half and there would have been massive odds on them salvaging the situation at that point.

But Smith pulled a goal back when punishing a miscued clearance and Tom Coles soon headed in his 98th goal in Rovers colours.

Ducket’s men still trailed as the clock ticked past the 90-minute mark, but Smith struck again to restore parity.

And Rovers’ leading scorer wasn’t finished there as he completed his fourth treble of the campaign, in the fourth minute of additional time, to secure a dramatic success.

Eynesbury now sit fourth in the Premier Division standings as they attempt to better the sixth place they managed last season.

They continue a tough run-in over the Easter weekend. They host Northampton side Sileby Rangers on Saturday before heading to Newport Pagnell on Monday.
