One of the best-known figures in Huntingdonshire football has stepped away from the game.
Neville Nania resigned as assistant boss of Godmanchester Rovers over the weekend due to increased work and family commitments.
Nania has been at the club since 2011 and guided Rovers to Thurlow Nunn League First Division title success in 2011-12. He then steered them to three successive top-six finishes in the Premier Division, including being runners-up in 2014-15.
Rovers won the Hunts Senior Cup that season before Nania resigned and took up a director of football role last season before assisting the departed Adie Cambridge and current boss Chris Hyem this term.
Nania, who was previously a county junior manager and chairman at St Ives Town, said: “It has got to the point where I just cannot justify the time that being involved in football takes up.
“I’ve loved my years in the game, in many different roles, but work and family commitments come first.
“I’m sure Godmanchester can consolidate in mid-table this season as they have a good squad who are also a great bunch.
“I wish Chris, his players, and everyone behind the scenes, every success going forward.
“I’m just thankful I’ve had the opportunity to work with some terrific players and great people.
Nania’s departure leaves Hyem searching for a new assistant.
He also needs to improve Rovers’ form after three successive league defeats. The latest of those came at table-toppers Mildenhall last Saturday.
Rovers were beaten 3-2, but fought back in the second-half from 3-0 down thanks to goals from Arran Mackay and Hyem, who had come on as a substitute despite feeling under the weather.
Rovers host Hadleigh this Saturday.
