Chairman Matt Plumb admits Eynesbury face a crucial week in their United Counties League promotion challenge.

Rovers have a difficult run of three Premier Division games in the next seven days – two of them against other teams tipped to challenge for honours.

The tricky spell starts with a trip to Holbeach United tonight (Wednesday) before Eynesbury entertain Deeping Rangers on Tuesday.

Those games sandwich a Saturday trip to lowly ON Chenecks which certainly can’t be taken lightly either.

Although the Northampton side have only managed two Premier Division wins all season, they are the only team to defeat table-toppers Leicester Nirvana.

“We have two massive games coming up against Holbeach and Deeping,” said Plumb. “They are not going to decide anything at this stage of the season, but we’re certainly looking for positive results.

“If we come out of both of those games with a point I’ll be pretty satisfied. We don’t want to lose ground to sides around us in the table.

“Holbeach and Deeping will both be up there at the end of the season. In fact I still think when it comes to the crunch that Deeping will be the team to beat after finishing as runners-up last season.

“The game against Chenecks won’t be easy either – not by any stretch of the imagination. They are struggling but then went and beat the leaders.

“The UCL is like that. Any team is liable to slip up in pretty much any game if not at their best.”

Rovers were without a fixture last Saturday as their home clash against Kirby Muxloe had to be postponed due to a waterlogged Hall Road pitch.

They were in action last Tuesday when easing to a 2-0 home victory against Wellingborough side Whitworths.

Both goals arrived in the first half. Declan Rogers made an early breakthrough with his ninth of the campaign before Craig Smith doubled the advantage after half-an-hour.

Whitworths hit a post on the stroke of half-time, but it was a smooth victory for Eynesbury, who were boosted by the return of midfielder Jack Warwick as a second-half substitute after two-and-a-half months out injured.
