St Neots Town hit the road with two aims in one.

Matt Clements’ side visit King’s Lynn in a Southern League Premier Division clash, 7.45pm.

Saints head to Norfolk with the aim of picking up a positive result to improve their miserable away record and also steering themselves further clear of the relegation zone.

A good run of results on home turf has launched them out of the bottom four in recent weeks, but they haven’t gained a point on their travels since November.

“The players have to realise that we cannot rely on our home form to keep us up,” said Clements. “We need to supplement that with results on the road.

“It’s a case of having do the horrible things properly. We tend to have somewhere between 30 and 40 per cent of the possession in games so we need to work hard, be disciplined and hope to use our quality when we have the chance to do so.”

St Neots, who are likely to come up against former skipper Tom Ward, who joined King’s Lynn in December after being transfer-listed, are five points above the drop-zone. They slipped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Cirencester last Saturday.

There is no such pressure on St Ives Town with their Premier Division safety long since a formality.

Ricky Marheineke’s side reached a half-century of points in their debut Step 3 campaign courtesy of a 1-0 success against Dorchester at ProEdge Westwood Road last Saturday.

And they’re back on home turf tonight when hosting play-off bound Hitchin, 7.45pm.

“We’re in a lovely position where we can enjoy the rest of the season,” said boss Marheineke. “But that does not mean we will be taking out feet off the gas.

“We have a cup final to look forward to and we have a group of players who want to win every game they’re involved in.”

Winning has proved to be difficult for Eynesbury Rovers of late with their fine United Counties League Premier Division campaign tailing off.

Mark Ducket’s men have picked up just one point from their last five league matches and will be in danger of slipping out of the top six if losing to Wisbech Town at Hall Road tonight, 7.45pm.
