St Neots Town manager Matt Clements has called for togetherness following a tough start to the season.

His side failed to win any of their opening five Southern League Premier Division games and then suffered an early FA Cup exit at the hands of lower-level Cambridge City last Friday night.

Clements is seeking to draft new faces into a squad that has suffered three disappointing defeats in succession – and revealed he will also make alterations to the style of football employed.

“I’m backing us to move forward in the right direction,” said Clements. “And I recognise there has to be some change for that to happen.

“It obviously hasn’t been the start we wanted this season and we are doing everything we can to address it.

“There will hopefully be new personnel coming in, but it important to ensure we bring in the right people at the right time.

“We’re not going to rip up everything we did when building the squad, but it’s clear there has to be a few changes - that will also be in terms of the type of football we’re asking the boys to play.

“The manner of our last three defeats has been disappointing. The hardest thing to take is the lack of hard work and desire that has been apparent at times.

“We need everyone to show togetherness and give everything for the cause to help us start to win football matches.”

Saints entertain another set of slow starters – Dorchester – in a league clash at the Premier Plus Stadium today (Saturday.

)The Dorset side have nly managed one win themselves so far this term and have also seen their manager resign.

Saints will have a new face in goal after drafting in Josh Tibbetts on a youth loan from League One side Peterborough.

The former Birmingham City teenager will replace number one Mike Emery, who has been troubled by a thigh problem since pre-season. It was then aggravated during the FA Cup exit last Friday.

“Dorchester will view the game in the same way as we do – an opportunity to kick-start the season,” added Clements.

“It’s a day where we need to stand up, prove a point and show what we’re about by performing against a team in a similar position to ourselves.

“Hopefully the fans will stick with us. There is always going to be discontent when a team is struggling and I fully respect that, but we will things sorted and start to deliver for them.”
