St Neots Town are out to excite as they chase more FA Trophy success this Saturday.

Matt Clements’ side entertain fellow Step 3 outfit Stourbridge in a second qualifying round tie at the Premier Plus Stadium, 3pm.

Saints sit 12th in the Southern Premier Division after a terrific run of only one defeat in their last 10 league outings, while Stourbridge can be found in the top half of the Northern Premier Division.

Clements accepts his men are slight underdogs in a clash which carries a £4,000 prize for the winners, but he is confident they can put on a show while going out on the attack.

“We know Stourbridge will be a very good side,” said Clements. “Their division is traditionally a strong one and their away form has been excellent this season.

“We know what we’re going to get from them. They are big, they are strong, they are organised and they are a huge threat from set pieces.

“We’ve also shown we can battle when necessary and I’m sure we can hold our own in those situations, but we need to do all we can to ensure it is a footballing spectacle.

“That is what suits us best on our pitch in front of our fans. We’re not built to sit back and try to contain teams.

“Our strength is going on the attack and that is what we will look to do. We’ve got skill and speed in the team and when it works it looks really good.

“The fans are enjoying what we are giving them and hopefully plenty of people will come along to get behind us.

“We’re a young side aiming to entertain and excite, and looking to progress as far as we can in the FA Trophy.

“It’s a terrific competition and the finances it can bring in are huge for clubs at our level.”

Saints mounted a fine second-half comeback to recover from 2-0 down when beating lower-level Corby Town 3-2 in the first qualifying round on October 28.

Saints will be without Kyran Wiltshire this Saturday as the midfielder begins a four-match suspension. He was sent-off for the second time this season when Clements’ side triumphed 1-0 at rock-bottom Gosport Borough in the Southern Premier Division last Saturday.

Wideman Scott Sinclair is a major doubt with a dead leg sustained in the same game.

Saints then have another home game on Tuesday when they take on Biggleswade Town in an A1 league derby.
