Manager Mark Ducket senses a special season could be ahead for Eynesbury.

Rovers are aiming for promotion from the United Counties League Premier Division following investment on and off the field.

An increased budget has allowed Ducket to add more quality to a squad which has achieved successive top-six finishes, while the construction of a new stand – which will come complete with more than 100 seats sourced from former Premier League champions Leicester City - will ensure Hall Road boasts adequate facilities for higher-level football.

“It’s an exciting time to be a part of Eynesbury Rovers,” said Ducket.

“We’re not a little village club anymore. We’re very serious about taking the club to another level and we feel this season is an opportunity to seriously challenge for promotion.

“The structure is now in place for us to do that. Improvements are being carried out at the ground and I’ve been able to assemble a squad I feel can compete at the top.

“The club have backed me and enabled me to bring in the ingredients I felt were missing last season.

“I treat the playing budget in the same way as I do my own money. It’s important to use it wisely to build the best possible squad and I feel I’ve done that, but the proof will be in the pudding.

“There is no stand-out team or big-hitter this season. The title race looks to be wide open, but it will still be tough to win.

“I believe we are contenders and if we’re not, I’ll be disappointed.

“I’ve turned down a job offer at Step 4 during the summer. It’s where I want to go and I want to get there with Eynesbury.”

Ducket has made four new signings with goalkeeper Dan George, defender Steven Gentle, and forwards Dom Lawless and Josh Bamford all added to a squad which lifted the Hunts Senior Cup last season.

Declan Rogers, who struck 14 times for higher-level neighbours St Neots Town last term, is also likely to be added to that list before Rovers launch their campaign with an FA Cup extra preliminary round tie at home to Thurlow Nunn League Premier

Division outfit Thetford Town on Saturday, at 3pm.

And Ducket is hopeful that Jordan Brown could again feature for Rovers this season.

The highly-rated wideman spent five weeks on trial at League Two side Stevenage during the summer, but was not offered a professional deal.

The former Cambridge United youngster is also attracting attention from further up the non-league ladder.
