Eynesbury were left to reflect on two points dropped and two injury concerns last Saturday.

Rovers were held to a second successive goalless draw when facing struggling Peterborough Northern Star at Hall Road. It followed on from a considerably more impressive deadlock at Deeping Rangers last Tuesday.

Eynesbury’s already thin squad was further depleted as they lost striker Craig Smith and midfielder Dan Draper to injury – a situation which forced 35 yar-old manager Mark Ducket into an unexpected playing debut for a club he has managed since late 2015.

And Rovers’ frustration was compounded by seeing strong penalty appeals ignored in both halves. Curtis Hartley and Jordan Brown were the man denied spot-kicks with the former even earning a yellow card for his protests.

A fine save from goalkeeper Jack Mudge and a follow-up goal-line clearance from Matt Clifford denied visiting striker Adrian Mizia a breakthrough in the first half.

James Tricks headed Rovers’ best chance wide in the second half. Jack Uttridge had earlier seen a free-kick tipped over and a Matt Miles effort was well blocked.

Star man Mizia then came close to providing a late twist when steering a shot inches wide as the contest ended in a blank.

Eynesbury return to Leicester side St Andrews tomorrow night (Tuesday). Their previous visit was abandoned last month after the home goalkeeper was knocked unconscious.

Rovers then face a quick run of three home games in five days which includes dates against the current top two sides in the Premier Division standings.

They host table-toppers Yaxley on Thursday, entertain second-placed Holbeach this Saturday and then welcome Northampton ON Chenecks on Tuesday.
