Jimmy Brattan piled praise on his ruthless Huntingdon side after they continued their return to form with a vengeance.

High-scoring Town roared to their biggest win of the United Counties League Division One season last Saturday when thumping Melton Town 7-0 in their final home fixture.

Much of the damage was done in a feast of first-half scoring at Jubilee Park with Liam Rodden’s opener being quickly followed by a Jonny Hall header. A Corey Kingston brace then sandwiched a Richard Baines effort.

Baines struck again in the second period before James Seymour completed an emphatic success which was followed up by another fine victory last night (Monday).

Town were rewarded for a long trip to Bugbrooke with three points and a third successive victory thanks to a 3-0 verdict.

Kingston hit a 20th minute opener before Hall doubled the lead with his second goal in as many games.

Substitute Jamie Waterworth marked his return from a three-and-a-half-month absence with a serious knee injury by completing the scoring on the hour.

Brattan said: “It has been a good few days for the club.

“We’ve had players returning back from injury and suspension, and we’ve showed what we’re about now that we’re back at full-strength.

“We needed to get out of the slump we were in and we’ve done that with three successive wins, scoring 13 goals and conceding only one in that time.

“Every single one of the lads has been superb. We’ve defended strongly, created plenty of chances and been ruthless.

“The confidence is starting to flow again. The Bugbrooke manager even said that the only way they could stop us was by kicking us!”

Town complete their Division One campaign at Lutterworth Athletic this Saturday. They are still awaiting a date for their Hinchingbrooke Cup semi-final against Premier Division side Deeping.
