Andy Davies has told his St Neots Town players they need to perform for the full 90 minutes to leave the Southern League Premier Division relegation zone behind them.

Saints squandered an opportunity to climb out of the bottom four when going down to a 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Banbury United on Tuesday night.

While the final scoreline was rather harsh on Davies’ men, he admitted his side didn’t do enough when in control of long parts of both halves.

And that’s something he wants to put right when they travel into the Midlands tomorrow to take on Redditch, 3pm.

Davies said: “I’m disappointed with the result against Banbury, but I have to admit that we got what we deserved.

“You can’t just perform for 60 minutes at this level of football and expect to win games - you have to be on it for the full 90.

“We didn’t make enough of the long spells in the game where we were on top, and we didn’t do well enough defensively when Banbury put us under pressure.

“It would have been nice to get out of the bottom four, but I’m certainly not in panic mode at this stage of the season.

“The league is so tight that any team capable of putting a couple of results together will quickly shoot up the table.

“It will be another tough, physical game at Redditch tomorrow. We’ll need to go there, impose ourselves and play our football.

“It’s a 3G surface and that should hopefully suit us.”

Striker Sam Mulready, who has scored five times in six competitive appearances for Saints, will return after missing the Banbury defeat due to an ongoing hamstring issue.

Central defender Taylor Parr is also back after serving a one-match suspension in midweek, but captain Tom Ward won’t feature due to an ankle problem.

Wideman Ryan Hawkins has also been absent from the Saints squad of late while attempting to secure a move to League Two side Newport County.

His lengthy trial with the Welsh club is now in its fourth week and Davies plans to press County boss Graham Westley for a decision on the player.

Young midfielder Dan Hobbs could also be heading out of St Neots. He has a loan move lined up at Soham Town Rangers.
