ICONS Netball Club has been promoted to the County League for the first time.

Excellent performances in the first half of the season left St Ives-based Icons in first position, but the second half presented more challenges and a few losses put their hopes in jeopardy.

A 44-21 win in the penultimate match of the season secured their promotion.

The second team also enjoyed a successful season, losing just two games despite major injuries to two players. Mirroring the success of the first team, they were promoted to the second division for the 2007/2008 winter season.

Second team captain Lorraine Robbins said: "I am so proud of how the team supported each other and of the hard work and commitment that they have shown."

The club formed a third team for the 2006/2007 season, captained by Leslee Hallam. After a strong season, the team are also celebrating success after taking joint second place in the division.

At the recent AGM tournament, the first team proved themselves once more and took the trophy home. Icons chairman and first team player Lisa Coulson said: "All three teams have done brilliantly. I'm so proud of them - I couldn't have asked for more."
