UCL Knockout Cup
Eynesbury Rovers 0-6 St Neots Town
FOR the second week in a row, St Neots Town followed up a disappointing result on Saturday with a six-goal demolition on Tuesday – with both their strikers bagging hat-tricks.
Eynesbury Rovers were the unfortunate opponents this time, as Saints knocked six past their neighbours in the rescheduled UCK Knockout Cup.
Paired up front together for the first time, Shane Tolley and Dan Jacob did not disappoint as they hit a hat-trick apiece.
Eynesbury battled throughout, and were unfortunate not to score when they were denied several times by Tim Trebes.
Saints went ahead after five minutes when Tony Scully chipped through for Jacob to lob Rovers keeper Marcin Lubniewski. Tolley added the second from close range on 35 minutes, with Rovers going close when Craig Lanham and David Fisk linked up.
Tolley added his second on 51 minutes, and Eynesbury’s Darren Blackall saw his effort cleared off the line.
The game was finished when Jacob netted on 56 minutes, and Tolley completed his hat-trick from substitute Dan French’s free-kick.
Joe Jordan stung Trebes’ hands with a long-range shot, but Neots completed the scoring when Jacob headed home at the near post from Bryn Williams’ cross.
SAINTS will face the winners of Rothwell Town and Northampton ON Chenecks in Round Two.
