Four St Ives Cycling Club riders all picked up top-20 placings in the opening round of the National Mountain Bike Cross-Country Series last Sunday.

Sapphire Curtis (Juvenile Female) and Jack Taylor (Sport Male) both finished 13th in their categories while Nathan Gibson (Junior Male) and Sam Trotter (Youth Male) were 17th.

Four other St Ives riders hit the roads for the fourth round of the Northants Cycle Racing Association Handicap Road Race Series last Saturday.

Category 4 rider Tim Phillips was their best finisher as he took seventh position in the three lap, 28-mile event starting and finishing in the village of Old.

Andy Fountain (Category 3) and Lee Desborough (Category 2) both finished within their groups, while another Category 3 man, Robert Tillott, failed to finish.
