Hunts racer Jon Railton is gearing up for an exciting 2018 season.

Railton heads to the famous Le Mans circuit in France over the Easter weekend for his first taste of racing this year.

He will compete in the opening round of the French Superbike Championship and it provides the first instalment in a varied schedule for the Little Paxton man.

Railton also has plans to appear in selected rounds of the National Superstock 1000 Championship on these shores, but his main focus is racing in two rounds of the World Endurance Championships.

He will line up in the Eight Hours of Oschersleben event in Germany in June and also take part in the Bol D'Or 24 hour event at the Paul Ricard circuit, in the south of France, in September.

Railton, who will be aboard a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 for the CPE Motorsport/Boast Plumbing team, said: “Some really exciting plans have fallen into place for this season and I can't wait to get started this weekend.

“I've decided not to commit to one single championship this year. Instead the aim is to do the two endurance events and fit in other things around them.

“I'm really motivated for success and I'm looking forward to returning to the 1000cc class.

“Our first test at Brands Hatch was very successful and my first impressions of the new Suzuki bike are very positive.”

Railton has spent the past two years racing in the Ducati TriOptions Cup series in Britain.

He only just missed out on the overall podium last season when finishing fourth after being laid low by illness during the final round at Dutch circuit Assen.
