Railton retired with bike problems in the first of two races at Oulton Park, in Cheshire, last Sunday. His broken water hose forced the race to be halted after five laps and meant he started the second race the following day from the back of the 34-man grid. But he gained 15 places on the opening lap and eventually charged up to fifth position. I was pretty fortunate that the water hose failed at a low-speed chicane, said Railton. It was then very tough trying to work my way through the pack in the second race. I managed to get up to fifth to salvage some points from the weekend. Railton now sits fifth in the championship ahead of the next round at Snetterton, in Norfolk, from June 30 to July 2.
