Sawford clinched his spot on the podium with a fifth-placed finish in the final race of the series at Brands Hatch in Kent last weekend. He had earlier taken seventh in the first race of the weekend after clawing his way through the field following a mistake on the opening lap which dropped him to last place. Sawford said: It has been a hard season, but Im happy we did so well and it is a great achievement to be on the podium. Unfortunately we had four DNFs along the way due to mechanical issues and they probably cost us second place overall. But it was still great to stand on the podium in third and I cant thank everybody who has helped me enough. Sawford finished the campaign with a six-point cushion over fourth-placed Liam Delves in the overall standings. Fellow local racer Jon Railton, of Little Paxton, took 21st place in the final round of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship at Brands Hatch.
