Hunts racer Jon Railton suffered frustration in the latest round of the Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup last weekend.

Railton started and finished the opening race at Norfolk circuit Snetterton, in fifth place, but was struck down by brake issues on the first lap of the second contest and forced to retire.

“It’s a bit of a shame not to have picked up more points,” admitted Railton. “Snetterton is probably my weakest circuit so I would have been relatively happy with a couple of top-five finishes, but the retirement in the second race wasn’t ideal.

“I was confident I could have challenged for a podium finish, but the bike problems forced me out.

“You certainly don’t want brake trouble as that can cause a big crash, but fortunately I realised the problem straight away and was able to get back to the pits.”

Railton has dropped to fifth in the overall standings at the championship’s halfway stage. It continues at the Brands Hatch GP circuit on July 21-23.

He added: “I like all the tracks that we still have to go to and I’m very much looking to get up to third in the championship.”
