Lauren Steadman has successfully completed her European Paratriathlon Championship hat-trick - and there was also a medal for fellow Hunts star Clare Cunningham at the event in Switzerland.

Steadman, from Sawtry, stormed to glory in the PT4 race in Geneva on Friday for the third successive year by completing the 750m swim, 20.4km cycle and 5km run in a total time of 1:06.40.

And Papworth Everard athlete Cunningham was just over four minutes back when taking third place in 1:11.09 to collect a bronze medal.

The two local ladies were split by Faye McClelland in a British clean sweep which is also a repeat of the World Championship finishing order last year.

The victorious Steadman said: “My swim was good and I found a rhythm.

“Overall it was really good, but I would still like to improve on the bike a bit.

“I knew the other British girls would be hot on my heels and it’s great for Britain to get the top three.”
