Miles on the clock are fine for Gary King as long as St Neots Town are winning

It was a long old slog but it was worth it. St Neots Town are up to 15th in the Southern League Premier Division after beating Truro City 3-2 in Cornwall on Saturday. Not that joint manager Gary King was there to enjoy the occasion.
“I couldn’t make the trip for personal reasons,” he told The Hunts Post. “But I have had a full report and it was a very pleasing result for us.”
It wasn’t all plain sailing, though. St Neots were 2-0 up through Lewis Hilliard and Jake Woolley when Truro struck twice in 10 second half minutes to bring the scores level. It was striker Matty Nolan who scored the winner, in the 81st minute, to ensure an enjoyable 330-mile trip home.
“We were coasting at 2-0 and we are not the kind of team who gives up two goals these days but to respond how we did to the comeback is a real testament to how we are playing.
“Now we have Hitchin at home on Saturday,” said King. “And we have five days of preparation time because we don’t have a mid-week match – so that’s great.
“But then we are back down to the south west again, to Devon for the first leg of the Red Insure Cup final against Tiverton Town.”
That match will be next Tuesday, with St Neots the favourites to take home an advantage from the game against the Southern League South & West side.

“It’s another long trip but we are victims of our own success and I would travel down to Devon every week if it meant playing in finals every week,” said King.
