Bottom of the table March Town proved no match for a rampant St Ives team as they slammed eight goals past the hapless home keeper. Inside the first 10 minutes Paul Swannell had a goal disallowed from a penalty corner before setting up Chris Duncan to sweep home. The goals continued to arrive, with Swannell and then Ian Basser stretching St Ives' lead to 3-0 at half time. March proved to the visitors that they were not out of the game by stunning Saints with a goal just after the break. A spell of concerted attacking pressure from the hosts then caused some tension in the Ives ranks, but any nerves were put to rest by smart finishes from Ben Scarrow and Derek Pope. Further scores from Pope and Alex Prestage, as well as a reflex strike from Dave Land, put the game beyond March despite a second consolation near the end. * Ill-discipline contributed to St Ives II's poor start to the season which continued with a 4-2 defeat to Alford despite goals from James Cahill and Alex Cade. * The III team travelled to Spalding and went down 3-0 but St Ives IV had a good win - 4-1 against Deepings with Tim McGlashan scoring all four. * Saints V won 5-0 against Spalding IV with Phil Yetzes grabbing them all.
