COMPETITORS from the respective Ramsey and St Ives kickboxing and kung-fu clubs fought hard at the latest European Martial Arts Association (EMA) Championship Series event held in Boston last weekend.

Special mention goes to Marco Broccoli, who fought in his own weight category and also went up a weight to compete in two sections, becoming champion of both.

After winning his -84kg intermediate men fight, he then stepped over into the over-84kg intermediate men category to also reign supreme.

Other winners were Courtney Brown (-64kg advanced men, black belts); Grant Brown (-74kg advanced men) and Jack Bristowe (-70kg boys continuous).

Daniel Cross was third in the under 4ft 8in boys, while Harry Nunn fought in the -70kg boys, but narrowly lost out in his first ever competition.

BCKA (Ives and Ramsey) won the four-event Boston series as School Grand Champions last year and these results put them in a great position to defend their title and accumulate more points for the team.

Meanwhile the Peterborough Series continues on Sunday, June 26 where BCKA are also defending series School Grand Champions.
