HE had to wait until the rain eased off, but Justin Lomas showed a clean pair of wheels to his competition at the St Neots Cycling Club Thursday night time trial.

Course record holder Lomas finished the 11.2miles in 28mins 58secs, to finish ahead of evergreen Alistair Henderson, who continued his strong recent form in 33mins 10secs.

Just four riders were prepared to brave the conditions, which have been much cooler of late, with the south-easterly wind making the course slower than in previous weeks.

Chris Gosling was third in 33mins 26secs, and Leon Bradford played “lantern rouge” in 33mins 35secs.

INFORMATION: All are welcome to participate in the club’s Thursday night TT sessions. Sign-on is at 7.15pm, with racing from 7.30pm from the road junction one mile east of Abbotsley village. A 50-mile moderately-paced social ride leaves St Neots Market square at 8.30am on Sundays.
