LOLA sports cars compete at their home round of the Le Mans Series this weekend, when the championship comes to Silverstone.

Eleven Lola-designed and built cars will race at the Silverstone 1000kms on Sunday, the final round of the 2010 series.

Lola hosted a preview media day at their Glebe Road factory in Huntingdon on Wednesday, attended by team members, drivers, suppliers and fans.

The event formed the basis of a sports car panel forum for the Midweek Motorsport programme hosted by John Hindaugh for Radio Le Mans.

Lola drivers Lord Paul Drayson, Jonny Cocker and Jonathan Kennard joined Lola executive chairman Martin Birrane and managing director Robin Brundle to discuss the hot topics of present and future sports car racing.

Eleven Lola designed and built LMP cars racing on the new track configuration at the home of British motorsport. Signature Plus, Aston Martin Racing, Rebellion Racing, Drayson Racing, RML, MIK Racing, Kruse Schiller and RLR will all race with Huntingdon-made prototypes this weekend.

Both the Lola-Rebellion and the RML-entered Lola-HPD will be aiming for title glory in the LMP1 manufacturer and LMP2 team championships respectively. RML are 13 points clear of Strakka Racing going into their home race, while Rebellion are two points clear of Peugeot.

LMP qualifying for the race starts at 1.40pm on Saturday (September 11), with the 1000kms getting away at 11.55pm on Sunday (September 12).
