Lola and Dyson celebrate 2011 successes

LOLA celebrated its 2011 triumphs while looking forward to future ones at its state-of-the-art headquarters in Huntingdon.

Lola owner and chief executive chairman Martin Birrane was presented with the both the 2011 LMP1 and LMP2 American Le Mans Series trophies, as well as the 2011 Le Mans Series manufacturers’ silverware.

Presenting them to him was Guy Smith who, along with Dyson Racing partner Chris Dyson, was crowned as last year’s drivers’ champion.

“These trophies reflect the tireless and highly skilled work that our designers, mechanics, engineers, production team and everyone employed at Lola Group put into our products,” said Birrane.

Lola have announced that it will have seven cars racing in the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours race this year with one of them being driven by new Rebellion Racing signing, the ex-formula One star Nick Heidfeld.

Smith said: “It is always great to come to Lola. The Dyson racing team are relishing getting our hands on the new LMP1 and going racing next month.

“This year is going to be a great year and it will be a privilege to represent such a great company like Lola at Le Mans.”
