Hunts Under 10s collected a first victory of the summer during their recent tour – with a hat-trick hero taking centre stage.

The local lads saw off the Isle of Man by five wickets in a 35-over clash - one of four games they played during a busy three-day spell at Malvern College.

Hunts dismissed their opponents for just 49 with Kian Rice’s fine return of 4-7 from five overs including three wickets in as many balls.

He wasn’t the only Hunts bowler to impress as Tobias Snape (5-24) claimed a five-wicket haul.

Hunts then eased past that tally to seal a long-awaited success. George Buckle (13no) was their highest-scorer with the bat.

Hunts were then beaten by the Isle of Man by eight wickets later the same day in a Twenty20 contest when their effort of 108-7 was easily eclipsed. Buckle again provided the most sizable contribution with 27.

Hunts had been beaten by Camarthenshire the previous day when falling seven runs short.

Rice again bowled smartly in that fixture with 4-17 and Edward Parncutt claimed 3-8 as the Welsh side were restricted to 77, but Hunts fell for 68 in reply with James Mitchell left unbeaten on 13.

Hunts came agonisingly close to another victory when just missing out against Cardiff in a Twenty20 clash.

The locals finished on 88-7 when chasing a Cardiff total of 89-5. Arsh Mulla (3-10) and Luke Lowten (24) provided the leading individual contributions.
