Hemingfords gained a spectacular slice of Cambs League revenge last Friday night.

The local side thumped Foxton 8-0 to record their biggest-ever Kershaw Premier Division outing – less than a week after losing 2-1 to the same opponents!

“We were confident that playing on a 3G pitch would suit us and we were able to play the sort of football we like to play,” said joint-boss Matt Peacey.

“We wanted revenge and we got it by producing a really good performance. We have a great bunch of lads and things will be looking good if we can keep them together.”

Jack Jefferson hit the opener before Lewis Besley doubled the lead after initially heading against the bar, but the goals really began to flow in the second half.

Michael Speed tucked away the third goal from a Nick Cade cross before Jefferson struck twice more to complete his hat-trick.

Tom Howard got in on the act with the pick of Hemingfords’ bumper bunch before substitute Matt Wright helped himself to two goals.

Table-toppers Brampton avoided slipping on a potential banana-skin last Saturday when triumphing 3-0 at bottom side Chatteris. Danny Cain struck twice for Wayne Ambler’s men with Gareth Owens also on target.

Ryan Vale hit a valuable late goal for promotion hopefuls Eaton Socon as they won 1-0 at Fulbourn Institute.

Hemingfords ace Jefferson was also among the goals the following day when helping the club’s reserve side to a eye-catching victory.

He struck twice as the bottom side recovered from 2-0 and 3-2 down to beat table-toppers Alconbury 4-3 in Division 1B.

Karl Tomkinson also bagged a brace as they triumphed for just the second time this season - and ensured Alconbury suffered just a second league defeat in the process.

Their advantage at the summit was cut to two points by AFC Barley Mow, who won 3-1 at Eaton Socon Reserves thanks to a Ben Colmer double and a Jack Cleghorn strike.

Ramsey Pavilion climbed into a share of Division 2B leadership last Saturday – without having to kick a ball. The local side were awarded a walkover when opponents Doddington United failed to raise a team.

Brampton Reserves continued their title challenge at that level with a 4-0 win against lowly Manea which feature two Sam Niccolls goals.
