Looking ahead to this weekend’s UCL title decider between King’s Lynn and St Neots at the Walks.

IT’S CRUNCH time.

Saturday’s much-anticipated fixture between King’s Lynn and St Neots Town will almost certainly decide the destination of the United Counties League title.

Saints will go to the Walks seven points clear of the Linnets having played two games more – that’s assuming Lynn pick up maximum points at home against Long Buckby tonight.

Neots know a win certainly – or even a draw - will put them on the brink, although defeat would seemingly hand the initiative back to Lynn with four of their final five games at home.

However, even if his side lose, Saints boss Dennis Greene reckons that Lynn may well have one more slip up in them yet – and fancies them to drop two more points elsewhere.

That scenario could see Neots sneak home due to their far superior goal difference.

“I still think that Lynn are going to draw one more game yet,” said Greene.

“And that could come against Northampton Spencer in their final away game next Tuesday.

“That’s always a tough place to go and Spencer have won six of their last eight league games.

“A draw for us at Lynn may be enough, but it’ll be nice to win it, bearing in mind we’ve got a sticky last day of the season at Long Buckby.

“But a win for us this weekend would give ourselves the chance to win it before the last day, as we’d only then probably need to win two of the our last three.”

St Neots have no injury worries to contend with and will also welcome back striker Stefan Moore after his three-game suspension.

And they will be desperate to put one over on Lynn having lost 4-2 in a controversial game at The Hunts Post Community Stadium back on February 5, before also losing their FA Vase last 16 tie 2-1 at the Walks just a week later.

Saints did beat Lynn 2-1 in a UCL League Cup quarter-final last month – before being thrown out for fielding an ineligible player – but that game lacked the same intensity.

“I just hope we are not too nervous,” said Greene.

“They’re all looking forward to it but, sometimes, once you get out there, the occasion can get to you when the crowd gets going and you realise the enormity of the fixture.

“But hopefully, we’ll stay relaxed and I really think we’re going win this one – we certainly owe them one.”

Speaking before tonight’s game, opposing joint-boss Gary Setchell said: “It’s in our hands.

“We have six of our final seven games at home and we know what we have to do.

“I honestly believe if we beat Long Buckby and St Neots we will win our remaining five games.”
