St Ives Ladies 1sts dropped points for only the second time in the current East League season last Saturday - but a late equaliser preserved their proud unbeaten record.

The Division Two North-West leaders were involved in a 2-2 draw with second-placed Cambridge University 2nds in a top-of-the-table clash.

Stand-in St Ives goalkeeper Holly Stride made a series of fine saves in the opening half but was unable to prevent them falling behind after the break.

Claire Wibberley-Young levelled with a cool finish past a defender on the line, but the Ives side found themselves trailing again soon after.

But Juliet Moynan snatched a dramatic leveller during a grandstand finish to ensure St Ives remain six points clear at the summit.

St Ives 2nds were beaten 2-0 by Spalding 2nds in Division Three North-West while the 3rds shared six goals with Cambridge Nomads 2nds in Division Four North-West (South). Laura Beadles, Emily Skidmore and Ellie Burgess were the St Ives scorers.

St Neots Ladies 1sts battled to a hard-fought success at Wisbech 2nds in Division Two North-West.

Two sisters combined for the crucial goal in a 2-1 triumph as Kelly Bingham's fierce cross was converted by sibling Paula.

St Neots had earlier trailed, but Alice Wright hauled them level when blasting in from a penalty corner.

Stand-in goalkeeper Sophie Draper was praised for her performance even though the St Neots 3rds went down to a heavy defeat.

Draper, who usually plays as a forward, donned the helmet and pads to become the last line of defence in a 4-0 reverse against Haverhill 2nds in Division Four North-West (South). Junior talent Cerys James was named player-of-the-match.

St Neots 2nds claimed a slice of revenge in Division Three of the Five Counties League.

They beat Stevenage 4ths 3-1 after going down by the same scoreline in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. China Saywell, Emma Rowe and Kate Clark hit the goals.
