March Town II 2
HUNTINGDON moved to joint-top in the Cambridge East Premier Division with a narrow victory in a hard-fought match.
The visitors started brightly and Joan Griffiths gave them the lead within two minutes.
Sarah Chadband doubled the advantage just before half-time and seemed to have secured the win for hard-working Huntingdon.
However, a second-half fightback saw March pull back a goal before Kath Perkins made it 3-1 to the visitors. March replied again with a well-taken goal but the visitors survived the nervous final 10 minutes to seal the win. Teresa Jackson was player of the match for an excellent defensive performance.
St Neots 6 Havering 1
A GOAL bonanza for Saints saw them wrap up a convincing victory.
Sarah Moore and Louise Watts found the target to make the half-time score 2-0.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Watts completing her hat-trick and Moore firing her second goal of the game. Sam Bradbury was the other goalscorer for Saints while Havering scrambled a consolation in the dying stages.
Saints face a busy weekend with a league fixture on Saturday followed by a third-round cup clash with Gloucester Ladies, who play three divisions higher. Spectators are welcome to St Neots Community College to lend their support.
Huntingdon II 0
Peterborough IV 5
DESPITE attacking from the start, Huntingdon fell short in this Cambs League Second Division fixture.
Player of the match Lucy Bedford showed up well as sweeper but Peterborough converted their short corners with deadly accuracy to leave the hosts trailing.
Emily Hill and Alice Edwards looked dangerous breaking from midfield and, after the interval, Huntingdon stemmed the tide, conceding just one more goal.
