Cromwell Lake Saturday Series

THERE were eighteen anglers present for Saturday's match at Cromwell Lake and a really varied selection of fish to be weighed-in.

The match was won by Keith Westerby from peg 20 who caught the fish of his life when he snared a big golden carp which weighed exactly 20lb.

Stan took second place thanks to five pounds of small fish to add to his bonus tench and perch while Dennis Page again found success taking third position.

Andy Leathers in fourth caught bream, tench and a few "bits" while the best "all small fish" catch was Mark Dickerson's 11lb 1oz.

Ricky Ashwell still leads the series from Dennis Page, Paul Goldstraw and Stan but with twenty points for a match win things can change easily at this early stage.

Grahams Pond

After winning both the Saturday and Sunday matches last weekend, Bob Stobart was beaten into second place on Saturday by American John Swain, who is quickly getting to grips with catching fish "English style".

John weighed in 5lb 9oz to beat Bob's 4lb 12oz.

Bob had his revenge on Sunday winning the match with 12lb 8oz to John's 6lb 6oz.

The draw for the Plumb - It Challenge is to be held at the Three Horseshoes Gt Stukeley at 3.30pm on 16 April.

Rookery Waters Pidley

The warmer weather has improved the fishing, but with strong gusty winds, pole fishing remains difficult and the tip has been the best method.

Sunday's Victaulic AC match, organised by Colin Bell, saw a win for Colin Drage from St Ives with Dan Howes second and Colin Buckingham third.

RESULT: 1 Colin Drage 8lb 1oz, 2 Dan Howes 7lb 8oz, 3 Colin Buckingham 4lb
