ST IVES Golf Club’s junior team whitewashed an inexperienced Meridian team 6-0 to win the St Ives Cup.

Playing on the club’s new course, opened by Robert Karlsson two weeks ago, captain Angus Hughes and Mitch Chandler got the ball rolling with a 2&1 win. Victores followed for Oliver Anthony and Josh Stimson (6&4), and James Reeson and Joe Hughes, who sealed their match on the last.

St Ives still have two more trophies in their sights this season, having reached the semi-finals of the Friendly Cup and being well-placed in the league.

N MORE than 30 junior golfers participated in the St Neots GC Junior Championships, where Connor Haynes was crowned the 2010 Boys Champion. He edged out his brother Alistair, last year’s winner, into second place.

The Girls’ Championship was won by Donna Haynes for the third year in a row, and Jon Carpenter won the Handicap Trophy.
