JONATHAN Railton climbed two places in the 2012 Metzeler National Superstock 1000 championship after a successful weekend at Donnington Park in Derbyshire.
The Grafham motorcycle racer took part in two races over the weekend with the fourth round of the championship also doubling up as a support class for the European round of the World Superbike Championship.
A fall in first qualifier set Railton back but he eventually began the race from the fourth row in 16th. The 21-year-old finished in 12th. Starting 11th on the grid in the second race, Railton finished eighth with just seven seconds covering the top 10 riders.
Both races were won by factory riders with Australian Jason O’Halloran taking the chequered flag in the first and Liverpudian Steve Brogan leading the pack home in the second.
Railton is now 10th in the championship with this weekend’s racing at Snetterton followed by a three week break before the championship resumes with round six at Knockhill in Scotland.
