ST NEOTS Town manager Marvin Johnson is pleased to be starting his side's United Counties League Premier Division campaign at home.

The season gets under way against Newport Pagnell at Rowley Park on Saturday, and Johnson is stressing to his players the importance of maintaining focus.

He said: "We are pleased to have landed a home game to start the campaign, but we will not be underestimating any of the teams in the UCL. We need to perform for the whole season."

Johnson, who took over at Saints at the end of last season, has introduced a new system and told The Hunts Post he expects it will take some time to bed in.

He said: "Whenever a new way of playing comes in it takes a few weeks to adapt fully, but we are already adjusting and playing the right way."

Johnson admitted he was pleased with his side's pre-season results, which included victories against sides from Luton Town and Oxford United, but stressed the importance of team-building.

Against Oxford on Thursday last week, St Neots came from behind to secure a spectacular 5-2 victory - thanks to a fine performance from the hard-working Luigi Rocco.
