Abel leaped to glory in the W45 triple jump at Lee Valley with a 9.44m effort which also provided an inaugural club record for that event.

And she followed up by claiming silver with 4.31 in the long jump to smash another club mark and complete a memorable first indoor competition.

Neil Carrington also collected two medals as he finished second in the triple jump (10.50m) and long jump (4.86) in the M50 section. Carrington is actually Abel’s coach for the triple jump.

Martin Gardner completed a hat-trick of bronze medals at M40 level thanks to efforts of 10.89m in the shot putt, 1.50m in the high jump and 7.31m in the weight throw.

Sandra Pedley cleared 1.80m to take bronze in the W50 pole vault while Yinka Opaleye missed out on a medal by a whisker when fourth in the M45 60m in 7.64.

He earlier clocked 7.63 in his heat to break the veteran men’s Hunts AC record.
